About Trauma

Washington Hospital Healthcare System’s Trauma Center provides 24/7 specialized, lifesaving care for critically injured patients. Our Trauma Center is staffed by specially trained professionals ready to handle life-threatening injuries, from motor vehicle accidents to serious falls.

In June 2022, WHHS proudly became one of Alameda County's Level II Trauma Center, the first new designation since 1987. This marks a pivotal commitment to delivering critical, lifesaving care to our community, ensuring immediate and expert treatment in urgent health crises. Our Level II Trauma Center meets the increasing trauma volume, driven by a growing population and the high number of patients transferred outside the county for trauma care.
