How to Become a WHHS Volunteer
"Random Staffing" Volunteering
Random staffing is a one way to volunteer at Washington Hospital. We are
always looking for new adult members who are looking for an opportunity
to volunteer on the days and times that work best for you. With this new
program, volunteers don't have to make a long term commitment to a set
schedule. Now you can sign up online for the date and time that fits into
your personal schedule. If you are interested in joining us, please attend
the next Volunteer Information Session on the date and time listed below.
I am interested in volunteering! How do I get started?

All high school prospective volunteers are required to attend a Prospective Volunteer
Information Session.

Adults and college students are always invited to attend, but it is not
a requirement to attend a Volunteer Information Session.
The next Prospective Volunteer Information Session will be held as needed in 2024.

VOLUNTEER PROGRAM**
To receive a Prospective Volunteer Information Session Invite: Please email to: volunteer_services@whhs.com your full name, phone number, email address and your High School.
An invite will be sent to you depending on volunteer needs at Washington Hospital.
Volunteer Application “Pickup” Process:
High School Application Packets:
- Prospective Volunteer Information Session MUST HAVE ATTENDED AND show proof
of attendance to a Meeting at the time of picking up the High School Packet
can be picked up.
- A counselor recommendation form is required and is included in the High
School volunteer application packet.

Age - Prospective volunteers must be 16 years of age to apply and have a sophomore
standing and at least a 3.0 weighted GPA.

Volunteer applications are provided
after attending the information session.
- High School students can pick up the application at the Volunteer Services
office located at 2500 Mowry Ave., suite 100, Fremont, California ONLY
AFTER ATTENDING AN INFORMATION SESSION.
- Office Hours are Monday to Friday 10:00am to 4:30pm.
- Potential Volunteers are to pick up the Application. (Parents can accompany
their child but the High Schooler MUST be present at the time of picking
up the Application)

A non-refundable application fee of $20 is charged at the time of pick
up of the volunteer application. Cash, credit cards or checks made out to "Service League of Volunteers,
Washington Hospital" are accepted in the Volunteer Services office.
College and Adult Application Packets:

Age - Prospective College volunteers begins at 18 years of age up to 26 years
old and enrolled in College. ONLY THE PROSPECTIVE VOLUNTEER CAN PICK UP
THE APPLICATION.

Age - Prospective Adult volunteers begin at 26 years old and older OR 18 years
and older and not enrolled in College. ONLY THE PROSPECTIVE VOLUNTEER
CAN PICK UP THE APPLICATION.
- Volunteer applications are available for college and adults by picking
up the application at the Volunteer Services office located at 2500 Mowry
Ave., suite 100, Fremont, California.
- Office hours are Monday to Friday from 9:00am to 4:30pm
Volunteer Application Fee for High School and College:

A non-refundable application fee of $20 is charged at the time of pick
up of the volunteer application. Cash , credit card or checks made out to "Service League of Volunteers,
Washington Hospital" are accepted in the Volunteer Services office.
Adult Fee:
Health and Background Screening: - In order to provide the best care for our patients,
all volunteers are screened and must complete medical requirements through our Employee
Health Services (free of charge).
Screenings may take up to two months to complete. Proof of immunization to rubella and varicella (chicken pox) and an annual
tuberculin skin test are required. Volunteers who have any limitations are required to provide a doctor's
statement of release, noting any restrictions.

Note: A background screening is mandatory for
adult volunteers and college volunteers over the age of 18. We will provide you a link to complete, once the application is filled
out and turned in. WHHS will absorb the cost of the background screening.

Uniforms - Volunteers must wear the Washington Hospital Service League volunteer
uniform and name badge while volunteering.
Orientation - After submitting an application and completing the medical requirements,
all accepted volunteers will be invited to a mandatory volunteer orientation
in order to learn about the Hospital's mandatory safety program, policies
and procedures. These are held as needed.
VOLUNTEER ORIENTATIONS ARE INVITATION ONLY
