Shane Daniel Ashbaugh, PA-C

About Dr. Ashbaugh

The newest member of our Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine team is Shane Ashbaugh, PA-C, OA-C, CSFA, a Physician Assistant with the top-ranked program.

He joined Washington Township Medical Foundation in the summer of 2020, and immediately felt at home. “The doctors and everyone on the team share the same philosophy,” Shane said. “All of us, including myself, are dedicated to the most conservative, non-invasive treatments possible before considering surgery for a patient. We’re passionate about this.”

That passion is part of the team’s approach to ensuring the most appropriate care plan for every patient, from professional athletes to injured workers. “I chose this specialty because I really want to help people maintain an active and healthy lifestyle,” said Shane, who enjoys golf, running, skiing, soccer, gardening and more. “Whether returning to work, sports or any other activity,” he added, “our goal is to help people get back to doing the things that they like to do.”

His primary clinical interests are trauma, upper extremity injuries, sports medicine and athletic performance. On a typical day, he sees patients with a wide assortment of both acute and chronic injuries. “It could range from a sprained finger to a fracture to a serious back problem to osteoarthritis,” said Shane, who is Spanish-fluent. “My role allows me to collaborate with our physicians on a proper care and treatment plan––one that is tailored for each person’s needs.”

Prior to joining Washington Township Medical Foundation, he worked at a variety of orthopaedic and sports medicine programs, including Vail Summit Orthopaedics in Frisco, Colo., and Blue Ridge Orthopaedics in Anderson, S.C. His educational achievements are extensive, and these include a Master of Science degree in Physician Assistant Studies from Stanford University, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Health Science from Clemson University. In addition, Shane’s experience includes clinical clerkships at Stanford Health Care, VA Palo Alto Health Systems, Santa Clara Valley Medical Center and more.

He’s now part of a team that has the training and experience to provide every patient with excellent diagnostic services and the highest level of care.

“The Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine program is a great fit for my skills,” Shane said. “It’s energizing to be part of such an accomplished and talented group of professionals, and to provide care for such a vibrant and diverse community.”
