Traveling health services make accessing care easier

The next stop for quality health care is right in your own neighborhood, courtesy of Washington Hospital's newest effort to provide accessible health care to its district residents.

Washington On Wheels Mobile Health Clinic - or W.O.W. - is a state-of-the-art mobile health care clinic staffed by a nurse practitioner and medical assistant under the direction of Washington Hospital physician Dr. Barbara Kostick.
Medical staff will be available to provide health care services to Washington Healthcare District residents who are uninsured, do not have a regular physician or have difficulty locating affordable health care.

Housed atop a 36-foot trailer, the clinic contains two exam rooms and is fully equipped with supplies found in normal fixed-site clinics.  Services provided by the mobile clinic include: health screenings for blood pressure, cholesterol, and glucose levels for diabetes; immunizations and flu shots; physical exams; nutritional counseling; health education; and health insurance counseling.
The W.O.W. Mobile Health Clinic makes several stops at several Tri-City area locations each month.  See the calendar below to find out where it is now!

Regular W.O.W. stops during the month:

First Friday of each month
9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Washington On Wheels (W.O.W.) Mobile Health Clinic will be at the Fremont Senior Center, 40086 Paseo Padre Parkway, Fremont.

Second Thursday of each month
9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Washington On Wheels (W.O.W.) Mobile Health Clinic will be at the Newark Community Center, 35501 Cedar Blvd., Newark.

Third Monday of each month
9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Washington On Wheels (W.O.W.) Mobile Health Clinic will be at the St. James Episcopal Church, 37051 Cabrillo Terrace, Fremont.

Fourth Monday of each month
9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Washington On Wheels (W.O.W.) Mobile Health Clinic will be at the Ruggieri Senior Center, 33955 Alvarado Niles Blvd., Union City.
