September 15, 2004

"Splendors of Asia" En Route to Fremont

Top Hat XVIII "Splendors of Asia" is almost here. The event will take place at the Fremont Marriott on Saturday, October 9 - less than a month away!

Big news! The prizes for this year’s drawing have been announced:

1st Place: $2,000 cash

2nd Place: Airfare for two on Southwest Airlines (anywhere the airline flies in the United States) valued at $800

3rd Place: Jan Schafir Original Watercolor Print.

Tickets may be purchased for $20 each or three for $50. The drawing will be held the night of the event but participants do not need to be present to win!

And new this year - Top Hat will feature sake tasting during the pre-dinner reception, courtesy of Jerry Chen, Fremont Vista Retirement Homes.

By popular demand, Vegas Magic will be returning to provide casino fun. In keeping with the theme, the casino will include Pai Gow, a popular Asian-style gambling card game. Entertainment this year will include performances by the Muraski Ensemble and Dick Bright Orchestra.

Steve Paulson, meteorologist for KTVU Fox 2, will perform duties as the evening’s emcee.

Proceeds from Top Hat will benefit the emergency room and critical care unit of Washington Hospital. With the second busiest ER in Alameda County, built in 1963, the hospital’s emergency department serves the community 24 hours a day and is staffed by highly skilled emergency medical professionals. As the District’s population grows, Washington Hospital is working to make sure its facilities are equipped to serve the community.

In previous years, Top Hat has raised funds for a number of different services provided by the hospital, which support the local community. Funding directly benefits hospital programs and services that aid residents of Washington Township Health Care District.

Sponsorship opportunities for "Splendors of Asia" are available. For more information about sponsorship or to purchase tickets, contact the Washington Hospital Healthcare Foundation office at (510) 791-3428 or e-mail foundation@whhs.com.
