Men's Health Fair

Sports and fitness will be the emphasis of this fair. A man who looks out for his own health is giving a great gift to himself, his friends and family. Providing men with the educational tools to improve their overall health is the goal of Washington Hospital’s Men’s Health Fair.

Scheduled to take place at Washington Hospital on Saturday, October 4, the health fair will focus on how men can reach their peak performance in their sporting activities and incorporate daily training to improve your health. Interactive “Men’s Tune Up” booths will share information on cardiac rehabilitation, stroke and heart attack prevention, diabetes, exercise and stretching, erectile dysfunction, prostate health, urinary incontinence and several other topics.

“We want to provide men with meaningful health information that they can use in their every day lives," says Deborah Garcia, R.N., M.S.N., Manager of Health Promotion at Washington Hospital. “By heightening awareness of preventable health problems and encouraging men to make daily healthy lifestyle changes, men in our community can improve the quality of their lives.”

Speakers will talk about how to incorporate sports and exercise into a busy schedule. The health fair will also feature several local physicians and other clinicians who will be available to answer your questions. Free blood pressure and body mass index screenings will also be offered.

“The health fair will highlight many specific issues that affect men’s health including the importance of staying fit, eating right and routinely visiting a physician,” says Garcia.
